The Business and Organizational Collection provides insight into regional commercial and non-profit activities. Church registers, doctors ledgers, scrapbooks from various clubs and organizations, and business records from companies such as Mahdeen Hair Tonic, Minton & Minton Lawyers, and Rusk General Store are among some of the collections. A variety of organizations have donated records including the East Texas Historical Association, Texas State Genealogical Society, Four Seasons Garden Club, Center Woman's Reading Club and the Nacogdoches Rotary Club. These collections document the social, cultural and economic history of East Texas from European colonialism to the present day and provide a view into southern culture and life.

Parmalee and Roeder General Store Journal

Scope and Contents The ledger has accounts of customers at the store and includes prices of cigars, crackers, calico, wine and other items. It is bound with Richard Parmalee's District Clerk's fee book (1839-1850).

Payne and Payne Inc. Records

Scope and Contents A collection of ledgers showing day-to-day activity in this former Shelby County hardware and furniture store founded by W. W. Payne and his son R. J. Payne. This collection includes customer accounts, inventories and invoices from Payne & Payne's suppliers. These records give a detailed picture of the type of merchandise sold by Payne & Payne from 1915 through 1950, and 1987-1991.

Planter’s Hotel, Nacogdoches, Texas Daybook

Scope and Contents The original daybook contains the names and accounts of hotel guests and Nacogdoches citizens who took meals or lodging there from 1854 to 1858. Also contained in the volume is what appears to be a county record of fees for court cases, 1877-1878. A photocopy of the daybook is also present.
