Owens, telegrams to the family from the military confirming the death of Owens, sympathy letters, military memorabilia, medals (including the Purple Heart), books, and certificates.

Researchers may find the guide book to San Antonio particularly interesting because it includes descriptions of Fort Sam Houston, Leon Springs Military Reservation, Camp Stanley, Kelly Field, the Balloon School, Camp Travis, Army YMCA, Camp Logan, and Camp McArthur.

The collection also has the manuscript pages by chapter for 'Mill Towns and Ghost Towns of East Texas', which contains information about mill towns, sawmills, tram roads, and logging camps relating to East Texas lumbering towns.
