Abstract

Karle Wilson Baker (1878–1960) was a Texas author, poet, educator, and literary figure whose works included poetry, fiction, children's literature, and essays inspired by Texas history and the natural world. A prominent member of the Texas literary community, she taught at Stephen F. Austin State Teachers College and received national recognition for works such as Blue Smoke, Dreamers on Horseback, and Star of the Wilderness.
