Biography
Stephen F. Austin State University has been a major part of the life of Dr. Baker Pattillo for more than 40 years, first as a student, later as an administrator and now as president. After graduating from SFA, Dr. Pattillo joined the university as assistant director of placement and student financial aid in 1966. Subsequently he was director of placement and student financial aid, dean of student services, vice president for student affairs and vice president for university affairs. A native of Arp, Texas, Dr. Pattillo earned an associate of art degree from Tyler Junior College before enrolling at SFA, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in English and history and a master's degree in education. He earned a Ph.D. in educational administration from Texas A and M in 1971. With a lifestyle that always has been all SFA all the time, Dr. Pattillo continually makes a fresh commitment to help improve the university, not only for current and future students, but also for alumni and the Nacogdoches community.
