The bulk of this collection consists of family letters and photographs for Neill family of Shelby County, Texas. The collection includes scholastic records (class notes, assigments, a diploma), genealogical materials (bible pages, newspaper clippings, obituaries), and financial records (account books, receipts, checks), as well as more than a dozen short stories written by Lela (Rhodes)Neill.

1) Letters written by James R. Neill to his family from Civilian Conservation Corps camps in New Mexico, 1941.

2) Letters written by James W. Hopkins to his mother Leoma Neill and his stepfather James Neill from U. S. Navy destroyers during the Vietnam War, 1966-1971.

3) Photographs from c.1925 of the Apache and Navajo reservations (See Box 2, Folder 13 and Box 3, Item 2).

4) Bills, checks and receipts saved by Lela (Rhodes) Neill and her son James Ray Neill that sample the businesses in Shelby Co. between 1954 and 1968.
