Scope and Contents
The main document in this collection is an unpublished manuscript by William R. Davis entitled "The Foundation of Texas Culture." It traces the development of elementary, high school, black, and college education in Texas from the Republic to the 1950s. The manuscript has chapters on Texas culture (art, music, literature, and folklore) and a bibliography of Texana. The rest of the collection (which were transferred from the SFA Biography Files) consists of several articles, newspaper clippings and biographical information.
