Letter from David Rusk to himself explaining how he was swindled by his land agent in Wood Co., William L. Alexander. Rusk found out Alexander used his power of attorney to sell 65 acres of land on Rusk’s headright (the Jesus Flores ⅓ league) to a man named W. W. Grice. Alexander never got Rusk’s permission and then paid himself out of proceeds of the sale. In addition, Alexander claimed expenses (court fees, surveyor fees, newspaper ads) that weren’t actually spent and took compensation for them out of Rusk’s 1867 taxes (forcing redemption of the land in 1869), 5/17/1870

Grice in Wood Co. demanding that Grice remove a fence and crops on the five acres of land he has cultivated that legally belong to Rusk.
