Letter from Charles Hunter at Robertson, Texas to his lawyer Thomas J. Rusk at Nacogdoches giving Rusk the background details of the case since Hunter cannot be present for the trial. Hunter got General Douglass to write a promissory note for him for $290 of freight from the steamboat Trinity in June 1840. Garner and Caldwell (the owners) claim Douglass never paid them and sued Hunter for costs, 4/7/1843
