This collection of letters and other items date from 1969 to 1995 and concern the Civil Rights movement in Nacogdoches: African-American problems with the police, police brutality, equal employment opportunities, county elections, and SFA student involvement in political issues during the early 1970s.

This collection consists of a notebook of carbon typescripts of poems, some of which are signed by the author, plus two poems xeroxed from the SFA student publication, Pulp. The poems offer a variety of settings. Many are about the sea and ports, others are set in East Texas, France and Spain. The author expresses concern about the World War in Europe and has tributes to three favorite authors, Edgar Allan Poe, Guy de Maupassant and Carl Sandburg.

This collection consists of class notes, written reports, and essays from English classes at Stephen F. Austin University as well as the United States Military Academy at West Point.
