Within the broad categories the papers are subdivided and arranged by types, such as correspondence, reports, pamphlets and speeches. The Collection contains approximately 1474 items.

Content Description

The Pickering Lumber Company Collection mostly contains documents pertaining to East Texas and Western Louisiana. The collection contains land surveys, business correspondence, oil and gas lease records, ledgers, and maps. The collection contains 18 boxes of documents, records and correspondance, 5 boxes of dismantled and intact ledgers, and 52 maps.

Scope and Contents This collection consists of personal and business correspondence; writings; newspaper and magazine articles; brochures; biographical and genealogical materials; and Texas forestry history by and about Jones, known as "the Father of Texas Forestry." Researchers may find the ledger of correspondenceof particular interest. It has letters, notes and telegrams from important individuals such as Texas' U. S. Senator Morris Sheppard, Texas Governor Pat M. Neff, timber baron John...
