This collection consists of a plantation account book kept by Josephus Brooks while serving as overseer of Franklin Boliver Sublett's plantation in Trinity County, Texas, documenting agricultural operations, weather, travel, and the lives of enslaved people from 1859 to 1861, along with a later farm record from 1873-1874. Also included are biographical and genealogical materials relating to Brooks and Sublett.
