Biographical or Historical Information

T. Gillette Tilford, son of Tilden and Rowena Mettenheimer Tilford, was born July 2, 1902, in Houston, Texas. Tilford was married to Jewel Norwood Tilford, who died in 1983. For a number of years, Tilford wrote a column for the Sunday Sentinel entitled "Out of My Mind." He was the first president of the Bonita Grocery Company and owned the Nacogdoches County Lumber Company. He was also a member of the Mensa Society. Tilford died in Nacogdoches on August 15, 1989.
