This collection consists of the papers of Daniel W. Lay, author and wildlife biologist in East Texas. Works provide an alternate viewpoint from the heavily industry-oriented area. It includes correspondence, newspaper clippings, publications, reports, research notes, negatives, and photographs.

The East Texas Research Center is the depository for the materials of the African American Heritage Project which was started by Birdie Wade. The ETRC is also in the process of creating an interactive and educational website for the African American Heritage Project.

The collection contains four original land deeds (1849-1851) and copies of two other land documents. There are also several biographical and genealogical materials, including a typescript of an account by Jesse H. Muckleroy (son of David) tracing the family's move from Tennessee to Texas and the establishment of their farm near Nacogdoches.

This collection contains articles, magazines, maps, newsletters, photographs, magazines, pamphlets, and other published material relating to the China-Burma-India theater of World War II. The bulk of the collection consists of full and partial issues of the Hump Pilot's Association quarterly newsletter and the China-Burma-India Veteran Association's monthly magazine 'CBI Sound-Off'.

The collection contains research materials used for six of Ericson's books; Nacogdoches Fires and Firemen (1976), The People of Nacogdoches County in the Civil War (1980), Panola County, Texas in the Civil War (2001), Sabine County, Texas in the Civil War (2001), and San Augustine County, Texas in the Civil War (2002).

Scrapbooks, post cards and photographs

The majority of this collection consists of accounts, bills, advertising circulars, county records, correspondence, notes, postcards, promissory notes, and receipts addressed to David Rusk or his son John Rusk.

This collection consists of thirty-two 8x10 photographs. The images are thought to be from circa 1960 because of the vintage of the vehicles in several of the photographs. These images may be useful to researchers interested in the engineering, technology and history of oil production.

This collection consists of original documents and research materials collected by Mary Martha Hackney on the Ingraham family of Nacogdoches County, the Blount family of San Augustine County, the Gough family, and other families connected to them, including the B. F. Prices, Landons and Tuckers. The collection contains photocopies, carbons, typescripts, and original manuscript materials.

The bulk of the collection is about Tom Parker and his daughter Nancy Parker. There are two interesting items from World War I in the collection: Tom Parker's identification tags and a pair of scissors he carried through the war in his first aid kit.
