Biographical / Historical
Stephen W. Blount Jr. (1853-1928) was the son of Stephen W. Blount (1808-1890) and Mary Landon (1812-1891). On May 25, 1876 in San Augustine County, Texas he married Mary Clementine Price (1856-1943) daughter of Benjamin F. Price (1827-1867) and Clementine Armita Garrett (1836-1862).
He atteneded Sewanee University in Sewanee, Tennessee. Blount was very active in legal and political arenas a judge, lawyer, state legislator in Democratic Party politics in the state. The family lived in Nacogdoches County, Texas.
Benjamin F. Price (1827-1867) was the son of Elijah Price (1791-1852) and Temperance Thomas (1805-1859). Elijah Price moved his family to Texas in 1841. Benjamin married Clementine Arminta Garrett (1836-1862). Their daughter Mary Clementine Price married Stephen W. Blount Jr. (1853-1928).
Benjamin F. Price was an editor for the Redland Herald (1850- )and the East Texian (1857-1858) newspapers. He served in the Civil War as a Lieutenant of Co. E. Lanes Regiment, Majors Brigade and Lanes Brigade.
