William Hall Price Letters
Scope and Contents
The William Hall Price Letters collection features one box with three folders. This collection features family correspondences from the Price family spanning from 1871 to 1904. Folder one contains family letters from 1860 to 1869 featuring communications featuring the following individuals: Eliza T. Hall, Kate G. Foster, A.G. Price, W.H. Thacker, Elijah Price, and Sue Smith. Folder two contains family letters from 1871 to 1899 featuring various communications featuring the following individuals: Elijah Price, Henry G. Hall, Briney Johnson?, A.G. Price, W.H. Thacker, W.H. Hall, Eliza Hall, and Eva Peyton. Folder three contains family letters from 1900 to 1904 featuring communications between William Hall Price and his father (Elijah Hall), mother, sister (Sue Smith), and brother (Earnest Hall). Folder three also features a newspaper clipping detailing W.L. Hall’s candidacy for district attorney and medical examination card for Mrs E. Hall.

Biographical / Historical
William Hall Price was born in Logansport on September 13, 1881 to parents Elijah (1846-1903) and Eliza Hall Price (1849-1929). William Hall Price married Mary Loving Price (1884-1952) and had two children William Hunter Price (1911-2000) and Arthur Loving Price (1919-1943). He died on April 8, 1966 and is buried in O. E. Price Memorial Park in Logansport, Louisiana.
The Price-Hall family consists of several successful businessmen in East Texas and Louisiana. His father Elijah Price established the N.J. Caraway and Company hardware and department store in 1897 alongside business partner N.J. Caraway. Elijah Price also operated a funeral business and steamboat along the Sabine River. After his passing in 1903, his sons operated the businesses.
