Biographical or Historical Information

Orlando Thacker Hanks (1844-1926) married Susan Pernella Thacker, Nov. 24, 1872 and their union produced nine children. Hanks fought with Company K, Captain B. F. Benton's Company, 1st Texas Infantry Hood's Texas Brigade during the Civil War. His reminiscences have been published in A Yellow Rose in Old Dominion: the Civil War Reminisc[enc]es of Orlando T. Hanks, by Jonathan D. Hood, and History of Captain B. F. Benton's Company, Hood's Texas Brigade, 1861-1865, published by Morrison Books, Austin, 1984.
