Lita Mayberry Collection

 Collection
Identifier: A-0259

Scope and Contents

The collection includes photographs collected during Mrs. Lita Mayberry's years as a school teacher and of her family life. Many of the earlier pictures are in the form of postcards. Subjects include students, family, and friends, many of whom are unnamed. Mayberry taught at least at Centerville, Hudson Grade, Hudson Elementary, Herty School, East Ward School, and Kurth Elementary School. In looking at the series of photographs, one sees the progression of time in clothing, quality of pictures, and background. This collection demonstrates the changes East Texas schools and people made between 1912 and 1961 (earliest and latest documented dates).
