Biographical / Historical
The Hasinai, Caddo, and Bidai tribes are all indigenous to the area. The Shawnee, Cherokee and Biloxi later relocated to Angelina County. The first Anglo settlers came in 1834-1835.
Angelina County wasn't created from Nacogdoches County until 1846, shortly after Texas became a state. The county seat has moved several times starting in Marion then moving to Jonesville in 1854, then to Homer in 1858, and finally settling in Lufkin in 1892.
Angelina County-County Records (B-0083) and Angelina County-Business Records (B-0084) were consolidated into Miscellaneous Angelina County Records (B-0083) in October 2018.
