Benjamin Rush Milam (1788–1835) was an early Anglo-American settler of Texas, empressario, and soldier. After fighting for the U.S. in the war of 1812, he came to Texas to trade during the Spanish period. He participated in the Mexican revolution against Spain, and was later given an empressario grant from the Mexican government. He later participated in the Texas revolution, leading a successful surprise attack on Mexican forces during the Siege of Bexar, and dying from a sharpshooter’s bullet in the process.
