John R. Eddings Collection
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of John R. Eddings’ military papers, including immunization records, pay stubs, and a World War II French flyer. In addition to personal records, there is a “Five-Year Diary” by Eddings spanning 1942 to 1950, primarily detailing his daily activities as a soldier while in France and Italy from 1943 to 1944. The diary discusses his assigned duties, maintenance, and routine.

Biographical or Historical Information
Mr. Eddings was born Aug. 1, 1913, in Lufkin, and died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, in a local hospital. Mr. Eddings served in the United States Army during World War II. Following his duty in the Army, he worked for Western Union. He was also a music instructor, an artist, and loved to work with ceramics, oil paintings and watercolors.
