Biographical / Historical
Mary Lynn Pleasant (1932-2012) was the daughter of James Lynn Pleasant (1911-1939) and Gussie Mae Langford (1915-2008). The Pleasant family lived in the Black Jack Community in Nacogdoches County Texas until 1939. Tragedy struck the family in January 1939 when an explosion and subsequent fire took the life of James Lynn Pleasant (father), Lilyan Ruth Pleasant (daughter), and Tommy Gene Pleasant (son). The Nacogdoches community had an outpouring of support for Gussie, who was also burned from the fire, and her surviving daughter Mary Lynn. Gussie and Mary Lynn eventually married Fields brothers from Paris, Arkansas and settled in Washington State.
