Biographical / Historical

Russell F. "Jack" Moore (1903-1999) was born in Dialville, Texas, the son of Dr. J. W. Moore and Armitta Ann Hammett. Eva Mae Simpson (1908-1997) was the daughter of Lee Lafayette Simpson and Lavada Artie Lockhart. Jack and Eva married in 1927.

Jack began his teaching carrer in 1923 and retired in 1972, which included the position of principal at the Jacksonville Junior High. He was interested in history, specifically Cherokee County, Texas. He wrote several articles and as president of the Cherokee County Historical Commission, for ten years, he wrote many Cherokee County histories.
