Content Description
Material in this collection consists of scrapbooks with photos and newspaper clippings, personal letters and documents, certificates of awards, appreciation, and membership, campaign materials, and political letters and documents from Johnson’s time as a Texas State Representative (1989-1997). There are also several books about the Texas State Government, as well as documents about Stephen F. Austin State University and various events relating to SFASU.

Biographical / Historical
Jerry K. Johnson was a native of Nacogdoches, Texas. Mr. Johnson served as a member of the Texas State House of Representatives from 1989-1997. He served as the Chair of the House Committee on Public Education Subcommittee on Oversight and Vice-Chair on the House Committee on Labor and Employment Relations and House Committee on Pensions and Investments and participated in several other committees. As a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, and former teacher of vocational agriculture, Mr. Johnson was an extensive supporter of both education and the agriculture industry in Nacogdoches. He was involved in his community as manager of the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce, SFASU Alumni Member, and mentor to various clubs on the SFASU campus. Mr. Johnson passed away on April 19, 2000.
