Biographical / Historical

Americus Langston was born in 1831 in South Carolina to William Langston and Elizabeth McMurry. He married Emily Margaret Montgomery in 1859 in Rusk, Texas. In 1861 Americus was a member of Company I, 7th Regiment Texas Infantry. In 1862 he was captured at Fort Donelson and was marched to Camp Douglas in Chicago, Illinois and was released later in the year. Americus died in 1893 in Rusk, Texas.
