This collection primarily consists of land transactions and tax receipts conducted by the Montes family in Nacogdoches. There are also receipts for everyday purchases. One correspondence that may seem out of place is a 1917 letter between Charlie Pena and J. P. Pena that probably made its way into the papers when their sister Mary Pena married Joe. S. Montes.
