Kerr/Carr Family Papers
The bulk of the collection consists of family letters. Most letters were written by family members in Jackson County, North Carolina to William Kerr(1839-1912) in Texas. Letters from Jesse Kerr were addressed to both his brother William and his son William.
Lemuel Brown Collection
Doctor's account book listing patients' names or relation to head of household and sometimes type of treatment or prescription with costs. Patients were from Nacogdoches and San Augustine counties.
Miscellaneous Nacogdoches County Business Records
This collection consists of store accounts, receipts, drug store orders, several notes and leters, a stock certificate, and some matchbooks. Researchers might find the receipts in Folder 1 useful for identifying early 20th-century Nacogdoches businesses. The letter in Folder 9 about a slave named Jim trying to buy the freedom of himself and his family is also of research interest.
Watt Family Collection
This collection contains personal letters between Mary Watt and her brother Thomas Kerr as well as between Andrew Watt and his aunt. There are also Dr. Watt’s copies of prescriptions and receipts for the treatment of various patients. There are numerous business receipts and ledgers from Andrew Watt’s business dealings as well as tax documents.
