Biographical or Historical Information

With the formation of Stephen F. Austin State Teachers College the college was governed by the State Board of Regents. In 1969 SFA was given the status of university and later that year the state legislature approved the University to have their own Board of Regents. The Board was made up of nine members. Today the Board is made up of nine members plus one student member. Three members are appointed biennially to serve for terms of six years.Note written by Greg Bailey
