Biographical / Historical
The Shipp family came to Texas sometime before 1840, settling in Nacogdoches, Cherokee, and Shelby Counties. Berry Monroe Shipp (1867-1950) was noted as a “pioneer Timpson citizen,” for his settlement in Timpson (Shelby County) which was founded as a railroad town in 1885, when Shipp would have been about 18 years old.
