Scope and Contents
The Mildred Hancock Library Scrapbooks contain pictures and information about the Ralph W. Steen Library located on the SFASU campus. The scrapbooks date from the 1980s and 1990s and have pictures from library functions to the construction work performed in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Biographical or Historical Information
Mildred "Millie" Reed Hancock was born on August 16, 1926 in Houston, Texas to George L. Reed and Ruby (Miller) Reed. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Nacogdoches Chapter #426 and International Order of Rainbow for Girls, Chapter 152. Millie held a Bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State Teacher's College, a Master's Degree in Library Science form East Texas State University and a second Master's Degree in Library Science from Texas Women's University. She came to Stephen F. Austin State University in 1967 and retired in 1993. Before working for SFASU, Millie held jobs with schools in Dayton, TX and Levelland, TX. She passed away on July 13, 2006 in Nacogdoches, TX.
