Biographical or Historical Information

Clarence Pinkey Harris Jr. was born on July 14, 1894, in Oakridge, Missouri, to Emery O. Harris and Dora McClene. In 1917, he worked as a physician until he joined the United States Army Medical Corps. Clarence was assigned to the 3rd Division Infantry and was in St. Mihiel from September 12 to September 16, 1918, and Meuse-Argonne from September 26 to November 11, 1918. In 1919, Clarence was honorably discharged from the military and in 1922 became a member of the Texas Radiological Society. On October 6, 1923, Clarence married Jessie Elizabeth Garrison, who was the daughter of John Thomas Garrison and Minta Lois Hicks. She was born on January 4, 1897, in Texas. Together, the couple had one son, Clarence Pinkey Harris Jr., on July 17. 1924. The family took up residence in Houston where Clarence worked as a physician. She would also be buried in Forest Park Cemetery next to her husband.

Jessie’s father, John, graduated with a Bachelor's in Law at the University of Texas. He became a lawyer for Shelby County and later Blount and Garrison in Nacogdoches. As of 1908, he resided in Houston until his death in November 36, 1936.

John's father, Thomas Smith Garrison, served as a captain for the state of Georgia during the Civil War on July 20, 1861. In 186,8 he migrated to Texas with his family from Macon, Georgia. After settling in East Texas, Thomas would later be known as one of the founding members of Timpson in Nacogdoches County.
