Biographical / Historical
Robbie Choate (1913-1994) was born in Oklahoma to Robert E and Flora I. (Bruton) Choate. Robert was a carpenter that traveled and in the mid 1920’s Robbie went to Honey Island school in Hardin County, Texas. The family moved to Nacogdoches before 1930. Robbie graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1930. By 1933 she received her teaching certificate to teach all grades. In 1940 she moved to Houston with her sister Frieda and was working as a secretary for a fence company. January 1941 she married W.J. Cooksey in Tyler County, Texas.
