Genealogical research collection on the Redding, Reid, Miller, Smith, Maxwell, and Pinson families.

This is a small collection of documents relating to San Augustine County, Texas, which were acquired from a variety of sources, some unknown. The majority of items in the collection are funeral notices and entrance certificates. Unless otherwise noted at the end of each individual entry, the document is an original.

Six notebooks of essays, notebooks are indexed.  Essays have been transcribed and published in book form.

This collection has Gregory Arriola's discharge papers from two stints in the Texas Rangers (1850-1851) and two turn-of-the-century newspaper articles with biographical information on Arriola.

Most items are printed or photocopied, but there are some original letters signed by Texas senators, legislators, judges, and other government officials.

Copy of an unpublished typescript manuscript by Mrs. M. B. Milam which consists of materials relating to Benjamin Rush Milam. Included is a memorial address to the Texas Legislature by James Milam, a biographical sketch by Dr. C. C. Graham, extracts from published works, and genealogical information on the Milam family.

This collection has photocopies of Edwin N. Swinburn's autobiography, his Confederate enlistment and discharge papers, newspaper articles about his wife's death, and reminiscences of his 86th, 88th, 90th birthday.

The Barret Collection contains correspondence, field notes, deeds, receipts, contracts, and promissory notes dating from 1845 to 1914. Materials document Barret's activities and include records concerning the Angelina River clearance, the Confederacy and Reconstruction, the personal papers of T. Jeff and Amanda Johnson, and the Melrose Petroleum Oil Company.
