Typescript of the diary (actually reminiscences) of the Nacogdoches native's experiences in the Civil War and later as a sheep rancher in Laredo, Texas (1841-1908). Genealogical data on the Kirkpatrick family is also included.

This collection consists predominantly of letters from James Carlton Owens to his parents, wife, and children written during his Naval service in World War II. Also included are a letter from Rosa Lee Owens to James C. Owens, telegrams to the family from the military confirming the death of Owens, sympathy letters, military memorabilia, medals (including the Purple Heart), books, and certificates.

The collection consists of folders containing memorabilia from James Strickland while he was in the navy.

The James Taylor Lacey Acknowledgement Books consists of three volumes of personal papers documenting Lacey’s work as a notary public in Rusk County, Texas, ranging from the years 1899 to 1939. The collection primarily contains records of notary acknowledgments relating to land transactions, deeds, powers of attorney, oil and gas leases, and vendor releases. This collection provides insight into the legal and administrative role Lacey filled in his daily life.

Material in this collection consists of scrapbooks with photos and newspaper clippings, personal letters and documents, certificates of awards, appreciation, and membership, campaign materials, and political letters and documents from Johnson’s time as a Texas State Representative (1989-1997). There are also several books about the Texas State Government, as well as documents about Stephen F. Austin State University and various events relating to SFASU.

The Joe E. Ericson Research Collection is a collection of research materials on banks and bankers, published articles, research papers, and notes on Nacogdoches history from 1914-1979.

There is a map, prayer book, pay record book and a military guide book in the collections. Researchers may find the guide book to San Antonio particularly interesting because it includes descriptions of Fort Sam Houston, Leon Springs Military Reservation, Camp Stanley, Kelly Field, the Balloon School, Camp Travis, Army YMCA, Camp Logan, and Camp McArthur.

The collection contains five photographs from the 1920s of Caddo Lake General Store, J. C. Crain Grocery & Market, and Johnson Brothers Ranch. Postcard of T & P Hospital in Marshall, Texas. Nacogdoches, Texas Fredonia Hotel, postcard, newspaper clipping and advertisement.

John August Tubbe Sr. (1841-1918) was an immigrant from Prussia who settled in Nacogdoches County, Texas in 1856. August was a pastor and circuit rider for several east Texas Baptist churches, a member of the Nacogdoches Milam Lodge, a farmer on 160 acre tract, and a sawmill operator in Nacogdoches County.

This collection consists of newspaper clippings, copies of police reports, and photocopies of photographs relating to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas, Texas, and the subsequent killings of Officer J. D. Tippit and Lee Harvey Oswald. The materials document contemporary reporting and official investigations surrounding these events.

The collection contains legal papers, correspondence, business papers, Republic of Texas Army Commissary Records, and biographical and genealogical material on Forbes. There is a transcript of the David G. Burnet treason trial and papers relating to Sam Houston, David Crockett, and Andrew Jackson.
