Rusk County Democrat Newsletter Collection
The newsletter contains a political calendar of Rusk County Democratic Party events, informational items, exhortations to vote, humor, and editorials. Many of the editorials are written by Mr. Jones, who regularly extolled the working class virtues of Democrats and his perceived shortcomings of Republicans. --Excerpted from a letter accompanying the donation of the collection.

Sam B. Bedinger Manuscript Collection
Typescript of unpublished manuscript by Reverend S. B. (Sam) Bedinger entitled "The Story of Nicholas A. Davis" which consists of materials relating to the life of Nicholas A. Davis. It includes Davis' early background, his years as chaplain in Hood's Brigade and his varied life after returning to Texas from the war which included building churches, serving as a Trinity University Trustee and as president of Rusk Transportation Company.
Sam N. Lee Journals
The 1884 to 1913 journals were written by Sam Lee. The journal entries are short and mostly describe crops being planted or harvested. There are some personal notes of information such as when his sister Cordie or Bessie visit, who preached the church services and where, and when people in the community died.

This collection consists of 33 ledger books, a poetry scrapbook, and a Beaumont High School yearbook, "Spindletop" (1925). The ledger books include daybooks, general ledgers, and farm account books pertaining to the clientele and operations of the general merchandise and grocery store.
